Northern Valleys Water Management Forum

The purpose of this project is to engage and work with vegetable producers, orchardist and other key stakeholders operating in the Southern area of the West Midlands region to research, develop and extend regional and industry appropriate leading practice information on water management and efficiencies. The objective is to create an environment where these stakeholders can work together in collaboration with industry appropriate agronomists and other relevant experts to better manage local groundwater resources in an environment of increasing competition for this diminishing water resource.

We aim to improve the knowledge vegetable producers and orchardist from the region have on current water use practices, current groundwater reserves and the likely impact climate change will have on these groundwater reserves.  The project will also improve the capacity of participants to adopt leading irrigation water and crop management practices, leading to a reduction in water use.
